EEOICPA Info
About the EEOICPA
“The Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation Program Act (EEOICPA) was established in October 2000 to support current and former Department of Energy (DOE) employees, contractors, subcontractors, and certain affiliated workers who became ill due to workplace exposures. This federal program offers financial compensation and healthcare benefits to individuals impacted by radiogenic cancers, chronic beryllium disease, beryllium sensitivity, chronic silicosis, and other occupational illnesses.
Part B of the EEOICPA provides compensation to DOE workers (or their survivors) diagnosed with specific illnesses caused by exposure to radiation, beryllium, or silica at covered facilities. Additionally, it extends benefits to individuals (or their survivors) who were awarded compensation by the Department of Justice under Section 5 of the Radiation Exposure Compensation Act (RECA).
Part E, enacted in 2004, extends benefits further to include DOE contractors, subcontractors, eligible survivors, and uranium miners, millers, and ore transporters who may have suffered from any illness causally linked to toxic exposures in the DOE or uranium mining work environment.
If you believe you or a family member may qualify for EEOICPA benefits, you can reach out to your local Resource Center for assistance with eligibility information, claim forms, and guidance through the application process. We are here to help you understand and navigate this important program, ensuring you receive the support you deserve.”
